Hurricane Sandy Relief
The story behind the video...
During my senior year at Holmdel High School, I received the opportunity to create a public service annoucement about a Hurricane Sandy Relief fundraiser for the nearby town of Keansburg.
Our local news station, News 12 NJ, did a story on my group’s efforts for the cause. I was interviewed by SallyAnn Mosey while filming for our video and I also did a live interview that is featured in the news segment. It was a truly eye opening experience. I was able to help out a community all while learning the ins and outs of video production.
After the PSA was released, I was privileged to attend the fundraiser I had helped advertise. Since the work was done through Holmdel High School’s Television and Film Society, I was assigned to cover the news story. I filmed most of the footage myself, conducted some of the interviews, and edited the entire piece (my story begins at around :50). Our society submitted this episode of the Hornet Report (name of our news show) for a Telly Award, and won spring of 2013.
